Mareld (2020)

Every light has a story of its own.

There is not a single world for us all to experience. Our own worlds inside the worlds are constantly changing according to our thoughts about them, how we interpret them and how we participate. The performance travels through the layers of the sea, it begins from familiar humanity to end with otherness of an single-celled organism. What does unicellularity feel like? Can the glow of fellow creatures be sensed? The performance is a torrent of kinaesthesia, mechanical stimulation, light art, darkness art, an audio piece and a radio play, it is subaquatic and time warp. There are people too

Income from the ticket sales of the performance is used to buy forest for preservation as carbon sink. One can choose between four categories: observer, conscious, influencer and active. The ticket price includes the Turku public transport ticket, which is valid on the day of the performance three hours before and two hours after the performance.

The performance is a collaboration with the Regional Dance Centre of Western Finland and Turku City Theatre. Algae used in the performance is cultivated in the laboratory in the University Åbo Academy.
