A kinesthetic performance about selections and hazard. Water Divider is a glimpse into planetary wellbeing and making different worlds visible.
We do not see the world as it is, but as we are. What kind of world do we live in? Our realities are different: what is reality for one is a fairy tale for another, or as incomprehensible as a distant galaxy. The fragility of our perceptions of different worlds creates a heavy emptiness, tinged with the flute of quiet melancholy.
I want to understand the waters and their interaction. I want to understand and empathize with different worlds. I want to leap from ignorance to understanding.
Photosynthetic algae and bacteria in the oceans produce half of the Earth's oxygen and are the basis of the marine food chain. The interactions between organisms that are invisible to the eye determine the functioning of the marine ecosystem. The show peers from the surface of the algae cell to the gravity-defying heights and challenges the viewer on a journey into a collision of worldviews. It's a story of soaring stillness, floating algae and interspecific love. The work combines elements of contemporary dance and circus, light and sound art and imagined realities.
The ticket sales from the show will be donated to the protection of the Baltic Sea.
